ANAVA Fund of Funds Explained: Tunisia's VC Engine
Backed by the World Bank, CDC and KfW, the ANAVA fund of funds is behind most seed capital in Tunisia. Here is how it works and who it backs.
Insurance claims paid instantly through virtual bank cards
EYST (EYST Technology) is a Tunisia-based insurtech founded in 2022. It builds a software-as-a-service platform that lets insurers settle claims by issuing the policyholder a virtual bank card loaded with the reimbursement amount, so the insured person does not have to pay medical or repair costs upfront and wait to be repaid. Insurers can offer the service through their own mobile apps or web interfaces. According to the company, the platform can restrict card use to certain spending categories or beneficiaries, improves the traceability of payouts and analyses transaction data in real time to flag suspicious behaviour. In May 2026 EYST announced a six-figure investment from 216 Capital, an ANAVA-backed Tunisian seed fund; the exact amount was not disclosed. The company said it would use the money to add features such as cashback, deeper integration with insurers' systems and data intelligence, to strengthen its sales and data teams, and to prepare an international expansion towards Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia. EYST has not named its insurer clients publicly, and it is not a licensed insurer or payment institution; card issuing relies on partners it has not disclosed.
