AI in Tunisian Banking: Real Uses, Rules and Gaps
Chatbots, remote identity checks and credit scoring are the first AI uses in Tunisian banks. There is no AI-specific rulebook yet, and that cuts both ways for founders.
Digital platform connecting borrowers with financing offers from partner banks
EasyBank is a Tunisian fintech founded in 2023 that helps individuals and businesses access loans and other banking products. Despite its name, it is not a licensed bank. It describes itself as a banking and financial intermediary: applicants submit a single request, and the platform connects them with a network of partner banks so they can see several financing offers without approaching each bank separately. According to a March 2026 profile by We Are Tech Africa, the company also steers users towards products that match their profile and repayment capacity, sometimes negotiates better terms, and offers identity verification, profile analysis and simplified access to some bancassurance products through agreements with banks and insurers. The company says it uses AI to give personalised recommendations and speed up loan eligibility checks. In early 2025 EasyBank raised TND 1.2 million (about $370,000) from undisclosed investors, according to Wamda and Launch Base Africa, to improve its platform and expand to underserved markets in the Middle East and North Africa and to France. The partner banks have not been named publicly, and the company has not published user numbers.
