BFI is a Tunisian publisher and integrator of software for banks and central banks. It is best known for its Global Banking Carthago core banking system, which is modular and extended with business modules according to each client's needs; state-owned STB is a reference client. In a 2019 interview with Webmanagercenter, the company said it began its Tunisian work in 1994 with the modernisation of the Tunis stock exchange, equipped the trading rooms and securities operations of Tunisian banks, and won the national interbank clearing (télécompensation) contract of the Central Bank of Tunisia in 1999. It also said it was present in 13 or 14 African countries and held about 80% of the regional electronic clearing market; these figures are the company's own. In December 2020 Ecomatin reported that BFI International had won a World Bank-funded tender from the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) to supply the CEMAC zone's central credit risk register, worth about €815,000, after earlier BEAC contracts on payment incidents and banking supervision. Financial software group VERMEG was spun off from BFI in 2002. We found no recent public news on BFI, so its current status is listed as unclear.
