Mobile Payments in Tunisia: The Wallet Landscape in 2026
Tunisia's mobile wallets are multiplying, from bank apps and La Poste to fintechs and telecom operators. The usage numbers are rising quickly but remain small next to cards and cash.
Tunisie Telecom's mobile wallet, run with licensed payment institution Viamobile
Kashy is the mobile wallet of Tunisie Telecom, the state-owned telecom operator, launched on 17 March 2026. According to Ecofin Agency, the app was developed with Viamobile, a payment institution licensed by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) in April 2021, and lets users send money, receive payments, top up their account and withdraw cash. At launch it was rolled out through about 30 Tunisie Telecom outlets nationwide. Tunisie Telecom presented the launch as part of its move beyond connectivity and as support for a shift toward a less cash-dependent economy. Kashy is one of several telecom-backed wallets that entered the Tunisian market in 2026, alongside walletii by Ooredoo. Konnect Networks lists Kashy as a production client of its white-label wallet infrastructure on its website; launch coverage does not mention Konnect, so that role rests on Konnect's own account. No user or transaction figures for Kashy have been published that we could find. The BCT's payment statistics give totals for all mobile wallets but do not break them down by issuer.
No disclosed funding rounds.
