Tunisian-born software for banks, central banks, capital markets and insurers
VERMEG is a financial software company born in Tunisia that builds critical systems for banks, central banks, market infrastructure providers and insurance companies. It was spun off in 2002 from BFI, the Tunisian banking software firm, and is chaired by its founder Badreddine Ouali. Its product range covers areas such as collateral management, regulatory reporting, securities and asset servicing, and life insurance and wealth management platforms. In 2018 the EBRD lent it €25 million to help finance the acquisition of London-based Lombard Risk, a regulatory reporting and risk software provider; the EBRD then described Vermeg as employing more than 700 people with annual revenue of €54 million. According to La Presse, VERMEG is present in more than 40 countries, serves more than 160 financial institutions including 24 central banks, and keeps a major development, research and expertise hub in Tunisia, with more than 30% of its teams working in R&D. In June 2026 it received the International Excellence Award at the Tunisia Investment Forum organised by FIPA. VERMEG is a B2B software vendor and does not provide financial services to the public.
